Launch of the 2018 Global Food Policy Report--Highlights and Reflections on Central Asian countries
Tashkent, Uzbekistan
June 01, 2018
Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Antiglobalism was on the rise in 2017. What will that mean for food security and nutrition? IFPRI’s 2018 Global Food Policy Report examines the impacts of global integration—including the movement of goods, investment, people, and knowledge—and the threat of current antiglobalization pressures.
This seventh annual report also provides perspective on the major food policy issues, developments, and decisions of 2017 and highlights challenges and opportunities for 2018.
The conference will focus on policy challenges, issues, and research priorities related to agriculture, food and nutrition security in Uzbekistan and beyond. Tashkent has been chosen for the first time as a venue for the presentation of the Global Food Policy Report. The conference will bring together country and regional stakeholders from the research, government, and donor communities to exchange knowledge, share ongoing research efforts, and identify gaps for improvement and future research. Participants will also discuss important development policies and research priorities related to food and nutrition security in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
